The Happiest Days of Our Lives, Wil Wheaton, audiobook performed by the author
This is the most unusual audiobook I have ever experienced. He read the entire text, including the acknowledgments and colophon, but he included extra-text background information while reading, he didn't edit out the part where he got too choked up reading his story and had to stop to sob and then compose himself, and he bantered with his friend who was recording the book for him during the read.
I LOVE listening to Wil read his own writing. His writing style is fun and creative and funny - so many of the things he writes mirror my own thought processes (the incorporation of song lyrics, unavoidable puns, and insertions of pop culture references). Listening to him read these things, you feel more like you are hanging out with him than you are on the other side of a sound wave.
The best parts might be when he is singing. I love the way he does voices for everyone, including his inner thoughts. Wil is an amazing actor, especially when he is playing himself.
An excellent counterpart to the print edition, but you really can't have just one or the other. It's a matching set.
I will definitely be revisiting this again and again.
