Thanks to Paige O'Day, I learned that today is both the birthday of James Joyce and also the 88th anniversary of the publication of Ulysses. Bloomsday is celebrated on June 16, the anniversary of Joyce's first outing with the true love of his life, Nora Barnacle, in 1904. All of the events in Ulysses took place on June 16, 1904.

One of these days, when my life is a tad less harried than it is now, I think I shall begin Ulysses on February 2 and attempt to finish it by June 16.
