The Gypsy Game, by Zilpha Keatley Snyder
As the boys from "Men on Film" would say, "Hated it!"
Something so unlike The Egypt Game, this story with all the same characters had nothing of the charm of the Newberry Honor Book that spawned them. Contrived and forced, this story which came 30 years later (but picked up from the same week the other book left off) and managed to carry over none of the wonder of the previous book.
I am glad I read it, because now I know, but blargh. There was so much better stuff I could have done with my time.
Ah, well. At least it is another notch on my bookshelf and another book crossed off of my "to-read" list.
Now, to stop adding to my list (I am currently reading 21 books at once) and get through some of these others. Shall we?
. . .especially since "
Stephen Dedalus" was the answer to one of the "Jeopardy!" questions when my dad was watching this afternoon. *grimace* All, right, all right! I surrender!
