Taking the next step...
Now that the expenses of the holidays are behind me I can finally focus on some important matters at hand...mainly trying to move forward with my career. In order to do that I have to buy a non-linear video program that I can polish my non-editing skills. Now here comes the hard part.
Most people in video editing use Final Cut Pro from Apple...which hurts my wallet with the $1,000 price tag...not to mention that I have to get a MacBook to even use the damn thing. Knowing that both of those options aren't in my immediate future I have to get my hands on a program that's at least similar to Final Cut in it's editing options. Now I'm down to two choices...Pinnacle Studio HD and Sony Vegas HD. I tried out Adobe Premiere but that was insanely hard to use and (comparing that to Final Pro and others) was no good. Now I have to make a decision to put myself back on the right track so I can at least have a shot of adding something else to my resume...possibly putting a DVD demo of created videos ranging from short form (not more than 2 minutes) to a few full length videos together. I've always had a little bit of a storytelling habit when if comes to making music videos...I'd just like to add a little more to that. Combining with catching up and learning new software and editing techniques I can finally make an aggressive move forward.
If anyone has any solid advice about any of this I'd really appreciate it.
