Hi, it's been a while since I've made political notes. The semester break got me out of the swing of things as far as news goes. Now that I have my own room I have been able to watch them undisturbed and get back into the swing of things.
First off that LED cartoon scare in Boston. I can't believe anyone took that seriously. The media seemed to be angry with the people who hung the LED signs, especially because they wouldn't take the issue seriously. They shouldn't. People need to lighten up about certain things. Now the president of Cartoon Network has resigned? Too much.
I saw Al Gore's film "An Inconvenient Truth" yesterday. I must say it is a great film and destroyed any doubts I might have had left that global warming is a serious problem. This was because Gore was able to explain why the people who say it's just a cyclical thing are wrong. The charts he had were great because they showed the data of the cycles but then a vast difference today, clearly due to nothing else but the industrial revolution. So I don't care what it does to our economy, we must act on this problem NOW. Gore seems to have faith in people that they will though. I don't. I think this is just one of the reasons civilization may not exist 100 years from now.
I think on a personal level, even if for some reason you are still not sure about global warming, why not act more responsible towards the environment? Don't wait for a good explanation before you take action, take action because it's the right thing to do.
I can't believe it, but campaigns for the 2008 presidential election are already heating up. It's incredible that things these days get going so early. It's exciting though. To me, helping candidates win elections is the most I can get involved in the political process while not actually serving myself. This time around it looks like we have a lot of good people running. This includes Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, John Edwards, and more on the democratic side, and Rudy Giuliani, John McCain, Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney, and more on the republican side. So far Giuliani seems to be the best candidate to me, I might actually work for his campaign since its headquarters is very close to Pace. For the democrats, Hillary Clinton is my favorite. When it comes down to it, I think our next president will be very competent.
Now a question for people (this question's especially for the more musically inclined who might be reading this).
What should I buy for my next musical instrument?
Fender 70s stratocaster guitar
Fender Highway One stratocaster
Fender Standard stratocaster
Fender American jazz bass
New electric piano
I can't decide what would be most useful to me at this point in time. Any of these will cost over $500, except the standard strat, so I can only afford one for this year.
