Here's something that's been concerning me. Bill O'Reilly covered a story last night about a student who dressed up like Hitler for his school's Halloween party and was met with disdain. O'Reilly said the guy shouldn't have done it and such.
I disagree. First of all, the student meant no offense. After all, he is Jewish himself. Most importantly though, he has the freedom to do whatever he wants because this is America. To restrict someone from dressing like Hitler is very ironic, because whoever restricts it is becoming fascist themselves.
Here's what gets me the most. It appears as if Hitler is viewed by many to be worse than Satan himself. People wear devil horns and pitch forks all the time for Halloween and nobody cares. Satan is supposedly the King of Darkness! Hitler is nothing compared to Satan. In fact, Hitler is no different than the revered Martin Luther, creator of Lutheranism. Luther hated jews perhaps more than Hitler, and could very well have sloughtered them all if he also had the power Hitler had. But Luther is seen as a good guy who stood up to the Catholic church and made a good protestant religion. He is viewed as a humanist and hero of the Reinissance. Fuck him.
Everyone knows I love jews. I just think that no matter how bad Hitler was, and I definitely agree that he was a bad guy, if people want to dress like him for Halloween, go ahead. Today, too many liberals get concerned about offending others. That's why we live in a politically correct world gone out of control. We must not worry about offending others. Offending others does not infringe on their American rights. People just have to stop being such wimps.
The appearance of Satan costumes at Halloween might offend Christians, so why does no one care about that, yet care immensely about Hitler? I also realize that not all people believe in Satan, so some might view Hitler as the worst thing ever, but so what.
