One Week in Rhode Island

This is my last week in Rhode Island for a while. I leave to Pace University in New York City on Sunday. I am done at both jobs for the summer, the church and the beach. Now for this last week I'm mainly looking to fill in things that I haven't done this summer yet before I go. This includes a trip to Block Island, a visit with Z, and maybe a little jam session, along with final shopping and securing my account. A night of partying is also in order.

As far as leaving I don't really care. This summer hasn't been much fun and I'm not sure if college will be fun either. Maybe. I'm not trying to be negative and I still have positive hopes for the future, but I'm just stating how it is.

I went to the Steely Dan concert Thursday with my dad. Excellent musicianship, excellent show. A lot of the songs I like were played. The crowd was filled mostly with baby boomers, compared with the mostly college age fans at DMB shows. The boomers as my dad put it were having a big "cocktail party". They kept getting up and getting fancy drinks, etc and never became as immersed in the music as the DMB fans. I don't know why. The boomers are known for Woodstock and such. Maybe because Steely Dan was after Woodstock and their music appeared to a lot of "yuppies".

I finished "The Da Vinci Code". What an amazing book, no wonder everyone likes it. It provides some cool ideas too and inspires me to look into the possibility of becoming a professor, if I can't get a music career together. It also caused me to buy some more books and maybe get into reading. I ordered "Angels & Demons" and "God's Debris" (thanks Erikman for the heads up).

I've been looking at travel options for vacations. Hostels will provide cheap stays. It's the airfare that kills you. I might travel back to Europe again sooner than I thought I would. Of course then comes studying abroad. Everybody loves Cancun for Spring break. I'd prefer a historical and cultured location in my homeland rather than a commercialized American oasis in Mexico. No culture found there but our own.

I'd like to announce a gig I have which I'd like everyone to attend. I will be playing solo acoustic at Java Madness in Wakefield on Saturday, September 9th from 10AM-2PM. Please stop by. I'll be back for the weekend because of the Roger Waters concert Friday.
