holiday crisis avoided

Dec 11, 2007 15:48

I was in charge of the Holiday Luncheon for our office this year. I picked a new caterer and in the end it worked out fine but…

They were supposed to be here at 10:45 in order for lunch to start at 11:30. They called from the road at 10:30 to say they were on their way but because of the fog traffic was crawling down central at 5 mph.

Okay, trying not to panic they can still get here in time and it will be fine.

They made it here at 11:02 which was good we could still make it work but then, while they were in the loading dock another caterer took the cart with their china, silverware, the salad, and the sauce and whipped cream for the pies.

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!!!!!!!!

Security was called and after 40 min of vomitous roiling of my stomach and a search of all the floors using caterers it was found on the 12th floor sans our salad dressing. B@st@rds!!!
Anyway we started 30 min late but everyone was pleased with the food and the Regional VP even enquired who the caterer was because, as I heard him tell Teresa, “the food was delicious”.
The food really was excellent.

The gift exchange was funny but I got stuck with a set of George Forman outdoor grill utensils. Our grill is a prize I won while working at Express (in 1994) for selling the most sweaters that Christmas. It’s black, emblazoned with EXPRESS in white and holds exactly 2 hamburger patties at a time. I hardly need a grill set for that. LOL!!

Now that the adrenaline rush is over and I’ve eaten I’m exhausted and can’t believe it’s only Tuesday.
