I've been off work all week (and will be next week too) so on Monday we went away overnight to Shrewsbury. We took Abbie with us, but El and Jen stayed at home so they could have friends over to celebrate the A level results.
I found a lovely 4 star hotel at a very reasonable rate for the three of us, and we had a great time. In Shrewsbury we visited the museum and browsed the shops, then got something to eat. Back at the hotel I took Abbie to the pool, which we had to ourselves part of the time, and we swam and enjoyed the jacuzzi. I haven't been swimming in a while - I need steps to get in and out of a pool, and find that breast stroke can jar my knees - but this time I was fine and gave myself quite a workout.
Later on we went to the hotel bar and Abbie and I played on our phones while Joe watched the football!
The next morning we had a lovely full English breakfast in a beautiful oak panelled dining room, then came home. I felt really refreshed, but it turns out I was the only one who got a decent night's slepp - Abbie was kept awake by our snoring, and Joe had found the bed too hard. I had found the bed wonderful and woke up not feeling too stiff for a change, having slept like a log!
Lord of the Manor! Joe in the hotel lounge.
Abbie and Joe outside the museum.
The Rowley House, 600 years old, now houses the museum.
I want this bed so much.
Dinner at, or off, the Beaten Track.
Daddy's girl!
A very expensive round of drinks in the hotel bar.
Enjoying a full English!
