Good evening, Luceti. My name is Tattoi, and I'm what I believe you call a "New Feather." I have some requests to make ( Read more... )

[Ooooh, wait. Relying on metals?]

So you... eat metal and stuff like that? Really?

Yes, exactly. Would you like me to demonstrate?

Uuuh... sure...!

[Because as someone who can't eat food, he can't help but want to see someone eat something humans can't. It's fascinating. 8U]

Very well. One moment.

[Tattoi sets the journal down; the camera captures him retreating into the kitchen. He emerges with a few metal utensils. Looking right into the camera with a grin, he takes a spoon and bites the handle off as easily as a normal person would eat a piece of toast. Chewing and swallowing it - again, with no difficulty - he offers up another smile before popping the last bit of it in his mouth.]

[He'll just have his video on, too. And here's a green-haired fella staaaaaaring in surprise at the feat.]

Does it... uh.

Taste nice?

Mph. [He just nods, then swallows.] Yes, it does. Bit of a subpar alloy, though, but beggars can't be choosers. [Because old Welcome Center cutlery was not really his first choice.]

Any special metals from your world that you know of?

Uuuuum... not that I know of. We've got steel and copper, and those kinds, I guess... What kinds do you already know?

Far, far more than mere steel and copper. I consider myself something of a connoisseur. Mundane alloys, supernatural metals... I've tried everything within reasonable distance of my home. I do hope some of them will show up...

Regardless, it seems like your world is one of the plain, boring ones. No offense to yourself.

No offense taken! Our world doesn't have much in the way of supernatural stuff, so it's hard to maneuver around all the normal folks... But you're not exactly human either, are you?

I am not of the human species, but I am "human" in that I am sentient and humanoid. That's the preferred definition of the word in my world.

And what of yourself? Your eyes seem unusual... are you perhaps not exactly human either?

Ahh... no, not exactly...

[Buck up, Ian, people'll've been telling you it's okay.]

I'm a tree-man. That is, someone changed me a while back from a pear tree into a human.

[... Just about. Ian always thinks of himself as a human, first and foremost.]

A tree-man? [The journal gets dropped in mock surprise; out of camera range, Tattoi is grinning malevolently. This would prove to be interesting.]

[Give him a moment to mime fumbling around for the journal; when he gets back in camera, there's only a tiny trace of that wicked smile left.] I'm sorry. You were a tree? I've never heard of such a thing in my world.

[Oh, a tiny trace of a wicked smile that Ian's too stupid to note.]

Y-yeah, it's kinda weird in my world, too. We're not all that common... In fact I only know 2 other people like me, so far...

...Ah. I understand. [He raises his metal arm so that Ian can get a decent look at it.] There's only one other person like me, as well.

[He blinks in surprise. Holy cow, someone who's stuck as neither human nor 'object', like him? Mostly his own species, like him? That's something he's not used to. And suddenly, he's a little more relieved.]

Really...? What do you call your kind?

We don't have a name. There was never a need for one. [Unless Ian's talking about his species and not the metallic bits. :|a But let's keep some of the mystique going.]
