[Late in the afternoon, some citizens of Luceti might see a very strange entry in the journal. The camera shows nothing but plumes of... white smoke? Fog? Clouds? It's hard to tell, but a loud, high-pitched hiss accompanies it. It goes on for a handful of seconds until it suddenly cuts off.]

[Being a man of white smoke himself, Smoker's curiosity and investigator instincts will get the better of him so he'll go to inspect it. Even if it'll take a little while.]

[By the time Smoker gets there, the mist has faded away. However, curled up next to the wreckage of one of the trees by the riverbed, is what looks to be a person in New Feather pants. He's partially shrouded in a plume of vapor, but what Smoker does see might remind him of a Zoan-type.]

[The half-metallic weirdo is also shivering harder than even someone wearing only pants should be on a day like this.]

Hey, New Feather. You all right?

[Warily inches closer, still keeping a relative distance since he's not quite dumb enough to want to give someone a reason to lash out in fear.]

[The guy uncurls a little bit, trying to look at Smoker without losing precious warmth. Still steaming, though.]

S-so cold...

Damn. [Already taking off his jacket to hand him and looking around for something to start a fire, he should have brought something, but with all the steam, he thought whatever was there generated its own heat.]

[He's generating plenty of heat - hence the steam surrounding him - but the difference between his temperature and the air is sapping the warmth from him. He'll take that jacket, wrapping it around himself, which has the odd effect of funneling the steam from the top and bottom of it.]

[There's plenty of wood around, thanks to his arrival, but no ignition sources in sight.]

[That's all right, Smoker's got several lighters. He freaks out if he has to go two whole seconds without his cigars. And while he works about, getting it built like a pro boyscout marine, he'll talk. Sort of. Since it's Smoker and mostly he just asks questions.]

I'm Smoker, a marine. Have you ever been to Luceti before?

[Truthfully, he has, but Tattoi's going to work the "pathetic new feather" angle a bit. He shakes his head slightly, still not wanting to move much.]

Luceti...?

It's the town down there, and what we call the surrounding area.

A town? [Tattoi uncurls just enough to look around, eventually spotting the town. He looks surprised (of course, he's been practicing.)]

What part of Oneiros is this?

It's not. [Kicks back quite proud of the campfire he made. He'll be wanting that jacket back asap man. It's his proof of wearing justice and cigars on the sleeve.]

It's a different world probably, the Malnosso bring people here for their lab games and once you're ready I'll point you to the Welcome Center.

[Tattoi takes the jacket off, setting it to the side and scooting closer to the campfire than would be comfortable for most people.]

Malnosso? [He does a good job of looking bewildered.] Lab games? What are you talking about? [...Bewildered and distressed.]

[Sighs. He really doesn't do this whole welcoming thing well, but taking back the jacket now that apparently the new guy's not freezing.]

Here, got your notebook?

[Tattoi looks perplexed for a moment, but then seems to realize something. Digging a bit under tree debris, he pulls out a book with "Tattoi" written on it. Obviously the journal. He'll just offer it to Smoker, hoping he'll write some useful info in there.]

[Flips it to the usual standard guide book.]

Here. That'll explain everything better than I can.

[Tattoi reads it over. Really, he knows what he's in for, but that doesn't stop him from gradually growing angrier as he examines it. Finally, he stands bolt upright and lets off some steam - literally. Four pipes extend from his back - Smoker probably saw the covers for them while he was curled up - and jets of steam vent from them occasionally as he talks.]

I'm a test subject?! This is [particularly loud hiss of steam] unacceptable! I can't go through this [more steam noise] again! I can't!
