My review of each and every Marx brothers movie in chronological order has moved into the later efforts, which critics traditionally claim are the weakest; however, I didn't laugh half as hard at anything in Animal Crackers as I did at the following in At The Circus:

1. Near the end, an elderly dowager is heard to bellow "will someone please get me out of this cannon." Chico is, of course, only too happy to oblige.

2. Chico and Harpo break into the strongman's bedroom whilst he is asleep to search for stolen money. "Keep quiet!" Chico urges; Harpo nods back mutely, and within thirty seconds is dressed as Santa Claus and ringing a gigantic bell.

3. Chico and Harpo get trapped in the mattress of said strongman, yet mysteriously manage to make him go back to sleep by singing "Rock-a-bye baby" from under the mattress, whilst Harpo repeatedly blows on his horn.
