Jesus Shines Through June Gloom

Jun 08, 2009 14:17

The weather has been strangely cloudy and wet for LA at this time of year. Sure, we usually get overcast mornings with our June gloom, but then it clears out by noon and the rest of the day is sunny. However last week we had rain-- BIG POURING RAIN.

So then Steve and I were driving to a movie Saturday night, and we saw these beams of bright, shining light piercing through pockets of dark clouds. It was pretty amazing initially, but by the time we realized we had a camera and took this picture they'd started to fade from view.

Still, as I saw them I said, "Isn't the sky beautiful?"

To which Steve responded in his best Nathan Lane voice, "It's like Jesus is waving down at the city with jazz hands, beams of light flying out from his fingers as he says, 'You're FABULOUS Los Angeles!'"

I will never look at sunbeams the same way again.
