One Month Until the Big Party Gig

Aug 08, 2007 16:09

I took a look at the set lists we've laid out (subject to fine-tuning), and my lyrics folder, and I've got a little homework to do before practice tonight . . . to the tune of tracking down lyric sheets for at least the five or six missing items that I have a prominent vocal role to fill (and, looking ahead, also for the other dozen or so missing on which I do something other than sing). I've also got a metric assload of gear to haul from the storage office to the practice space, but that's every practice.

So in four weekly practice sessions we're going to be ready for a full three-set gig, albeit in the fairly relaxed standards of a yard party. I'm pretty excited about this one . . . we've come a long way for a bunch of nerds. This is only a short step away from my goal (#91 of 101) of performing on stage for money, since we're doing this in exchange for free beer and the cost of our rental speakers. (It wouldn't be a huge stretch to call that goal technically achieved . . . when we played at the company anniversary party a couple of weeks ago, I was 'on the clock'. But that's not really what I had in mind when I wrote the goal.)

Quote of the Day
Reminds me of my safari in Africa. Somebody forgot the corkscrew and for several days we had to live on nothing but food and water.     -- W.C. Fields
