((A. Action, early morning, 1124 Taylor Road; limited to anyone within earshot.))

[Three things were wrong when Thor woke up this morning. One: He was not in Bilskirnir, where he distinctly remembered having fallen asleep. Two: The woman sleeping on his left was not his wife. Three: The bedstand to his right most definitely did not have a hammer ( Read more... )

[ An armored Jotun approaches the god. ]

Excuse me, ser. Are you attempting to flip the vehicle?

[Thor drops the front of the car to turn on the newcomer. Who in all the nine realms would be talking to him when he is clearly trying to subdue a--

...Well. That answers the question of where he is. And clearly the knowledge does not please him. Thor plants a hand on the front of the car, apparently under the impression that this is keeping it in place, and gives the giant his most intimidating glare. The bastard will know who he is.]

Is this how you make mock of Thor? Think you that I will be merciful? Think not that you will escape me, when I have slain your vehicle!

Don't slay the vehicle, it has a mortal in it. It would be unfortunate if they were hurt. [ he points a gauntleted hand to the driver. ]

I take it your name is Thor then? I am Garviel Loken.

[If anything, Thor just looks angrier. He's convinced this stranger is mocking him - why else would a giant not know and fear the name of Thor?]

I am Thor Odinsson, and I do not require my hammer to tear your head from your shoulders! Thor was fighting giants before Mjollnir was ever forged!

[Hey, at least he's not actively damaging the car anymore.]

Oh. You sound like you are from Fenris... you're a little small to be a Space Wolf though. Are you one of their Kaerls?

Do not be alarmed, I am a Legiones Astartes. [ Garviel says this all calmly, phlegmatically even. He's used to dealing with hot-blooded types and he knows that patience is the best way to resolve the situation without violence. ]

[Yeah Thor has no idea what three-fourths of that meant. But he leaves off abusing the car for a moment to fix Garviel with his most intimidating glare.]

You mistake me for one of you? What is this place? I know of no Astartes in this or any realm!

[ Garviel looks right back with an equally steely gaze. ]

That is unfortunate, for we are the warriors that keep the stars safe for humanity, grandsons of the Emperor of Mankind. Warrior-born.

Still, your ferocity does you credit, though it is misplaced. This place is a prison of sorts, and you and I are both prisoners.

[ Garviel reaches into a pouch and pulls out a pamphlet, offering it to Thor ]

This missive will explain somewhat.

(Has the player already read the pamphlet or would you like a link?)

Prisoners? [That cuts into the part of Thor's anger directed at Garviel some. He takes the pamphlet warily and looks at it, but does not read it yet.]

Is this some prison for warriors, then?

(the player has not! may I have a link, please? :D)

You might say that, but it isn't completely accurate. This a prison for all sorts of exceptional people. [ Letter reads like so: http://buildstherobots.livejournal.com/12857.html#cutid1

[Thor glances at the letter briefly, but takes no time to read it in detail. He looks back at Garviel, his face less openly hostile but still suspicious.]

Is this, then, a place for fallen warriors? I know of such a place.

Some of us are fallen warriors, others are not. I myself thought I was dead only to recently learn that I did not, in fact, die when my gene-father, the Warmaster betrayed me.

You will find there are many people here, from many periods of time.

[ Garviel just looks patient and understanding. And enormous. ]

[Thor considers this. He's quite sure Garviel means him no harm now, and warriors on the whole are all right with him; but that's small comfort considering what he's just been told.]

And I suppose that you know neither how you came here, nor how you may return whence you came?

That is broadly correct, I only have theories and they could be wrong.

That being said, I intend to find a way to strike back at our captors and free us all...

[ He sighs. ]

Even those of us I despise.

No man deserves such a prison! ["Man" being understood as "men of Midgard," and specifically not including things like "giants" or "Loki."]

I seek only Mjollnir, which your captors have stolen from me. I would aid you in freeing the men trapped here, and destroy those who took it - I have only to find it.

Ah. That may be returned in time, or it is possible to receive it now, but be warned... any thing you receive by going to the post office you will have to pay a significant price for.

They return what they have stolen, and yet none have yet gained their freedom?

...What manner of price do they ask?
