6th bolt - doomsday

((A. Action, early morning, 1124 Taylor Rd))

[This is not the end of the world.

This cannot be the end of the world. Thor knows what the end of the world will bring, has always known how his end would come. This is no deep winter, the armies of the dead do not walk the streets (this time), and his brother is not here. This is not Ragnarok ( Read more... )

[Jormungandr is wandering the wreckage, his hands in his pockets, gently nudging at pieces of debris with his foot, easily climbing and navigating through piles of rubble. He's looked at the bodies and charred shadows with great interest. He's never seen such destruction before.

He wonders if this what Ragnarok will look like.

And then he sees Thor, and with thoughts of Ragnarok still fresh in his mind he tenses for a moment. Then he realizes that no matter what happens, at the moment he still has the upper hand.

Now doesn't really seem the time for such stupid fights, though.

Whenever Thor might spot him, Jormungandr will be standing off to the side, hands still in his pockets, looking strangely relaxed and at ease, though clearly disturbed by what he sees around him.]

[It doesn't matter if it's the right end of the world or not. Having Jormungandr standing around in any apocalypse is just... unsettling. Thor spots him from a distance - it's not hard to make out his lanky form among the shorter heaps of rubble.

His grip tightens around the lead pipe in his hand as he approaches.]

Of course you would survive this.

[He tenses slightly at the sight of the pipe, but otherwise Jormungadr seems not to move much. He tilts his head slightly to the side, eying Thor, watching him carefully.]

I have not the time to do battle with you, Serpent.

[Because this is not the battle. It would be only a shallow farce of the fight they will have when the world truly ends.]

I seek the enemy that leveled this realm. Have you seen any signs that point to where it came from?

[...good. Jormungandr relaxes again. He wasn't looking for a fight anyway. He shakes his head. He has no idea what happened or how, but he has suspicions that whoever did it won't be hanging around.]

[Thor makes a sound of frustration. He's heard nothing clearer from anyone yet today.]

When I find this enemy, I will hang his corpse for all of Mayfield to see -- those in Mayfield who still live.

[Jormungandr nods slowly. He doesn't really care about destruction, even on a massive scale, but this just seems senseless, even to him. And if it's really just to make a point, like it so often seems to be here in Mayfield, then it's a stupid, useless point. He wouldn't mind seeing whoever's behind this strung up. Not at all.]

[Agreement? That's not something he's come to expect from Jormungandr. Thor looks at him with suspicion for a long moment.

...Yes, there are still better things to do now than start a fight.]

What will you do, Serpent? Will you seek this destroyer, or will you stand there mute until Mayfield sends its next torment?

[He suspects that the "destroyer," whoever he she or it might be, is probably not lingering in the destruction, but as it gives him something to do... He shrugs and with a weirdly graceful jump he hops down from the pile of rubble he stands on and stands by Thor, his hands still in his pockets.

He's willing to call a truce if you are.]

[If Thor takes a wary step back when Jormungandr lands, he's certainly not going to say anything about it.]

...Very well.

[He hefts his lead pipe and turns toward the cracked and broken street.]

Seek you a weapon. I'll not be saving your life this day.

[Jormungandr isn't sure he needs one, but he'll be keeping an eye on the rubble anyway.

There's a twisted piece of metal. It'll do. He picks it up and follows after Thor, his steps quiet.]

[Thor slows a little, to let Jormungandr walk beside him. For anyone else, it would be a token of respect, a more practical strategy for keeping a wide lookout; but really, Thor just finds the silence of his steps eerie. Better to have him where he can see him.]

...Will you fight, if it comes to battle?

[He looks over at Thor and nods. Why wouldn't he? Running away would only be a temporary solution.

And besides, fighting is kind of fun.]
