Let it not be said that Thor, son of Odin, fears to drink the milk. Even were death permanent here, he would not fear to drink it, for what man of honor truly fears death ( Read more... )

Oooh! Punched! duck_duck_laser August 23 2011, 05:41:57 UTC
[This morning's surprise was spiders. Spiders. In the milk. Spiders that this new body was apparently allergic to. So there she was, in all her blonde and puffy-lipped glory, walking around town attempting to find the pharmacy. Surely someone there could recommend something to bring down the swelling.

She's on the alert for killdrones! But not for dudes punching things.]

[Thor comes charging down the street, taking no notice of sidewalks or passing cars, unless they are slow enough to punch in passing. No, there is a moving troll up ahead - or, anyway, that's what Thor sees, loping along ahead of him, with the audacity to think that it's safe on his turf.

At twenty yards, Thor lets loose a mighty bellow and breaks into a sprint. He's surprisingly fast for a guy made almost completely of muscle - and he doesn't look like he plans on slowing down.]

READY YOURSELF, MONSTER!

[Thank goodness for that bellow! Otherwise she might have been caught off-guard by the charging wall-o-beef that was coming her way. Trained reflex kicks in and she glances over her shoulder long enough to see more or less what was coming at her... then she dives swiftly to the side, rolls, and lands neatly on her feet, making a gesture as if drawing a weapon.]

...crap!

[She's unarmed here, of course, how could she have forgotten that? Her mistake is costing her precious time where she could reposition herself or counter-attack!

...he's probably still coming at her and she's probably going to get hit.]

[Damn, but trolls are not supposed to be that quick. It's a clever one. Thor barely loses momentum as he rounds on the thing - which has conveniently stopped moving - and lands a punch right across its ugly, leering face.

He'll give it a moment to stand up. If it can.]

[The world goes white. Pain explodes behind her eyes, and there's a horrible crunch. That fist made contact, alright. Enough contact to break her nose. Dakki staggers backwards and sways wildly, and she's this close from toppling over.]

Nhh...!

[But that mind-blanking unthinkable spike of pain is quickly receeding. Is this adrenaline? Really? Is this what humans feel in combat? That's interesting! Her eyes are squinted and her vision is blurry, but this guy is an enormous, irresistable target. Her stance widens, she turns her next sway into forward motion, and she rushes in at him, ready to deliver a series of surprisingly hard punches to his solar plexus.]

[Thor's shout of anger seems... somehow less angry than fiercely joyful. This is what he's been looking for! A real fight! The hits take some of the wind out of him, but it doesn't take much coordination to force himself into forward motion - all he has to do is get close enough to wrestle it. Or at least throw it off balance while he remembers how to breathe.

That's definitely a hoarse laugh escaping him as he lunges forward, aiming to get an arm around the troll's thick neck.]

[Punch and punch and punch and....]

Hk-!

[That troll neck might feel a little less thick once he's got a hand on it, unless the hallucination's tactile, too. But holds! She knows how to handle a hold, oh yes! Only a moment is spent making that choked sound and dripping blood on his arm before she has one hand on his forearm and one on his thumb, pulling and twisting herself to break that hold and get him at arm's length.

Her next move would be to throw him... but it's a move carried out with the assumption of more strength and photonic enhancement than she currently possesses. Gonna fail. So gonna fail.]

[If Thor notices that the troll seems somewhat smaller up close, he gives no indication. Really, he's so deep into bloodlust he's aware of very little about his surroundings; his only goal is to kill the troll.

He wasn't expecting it to attempt a hold - he's a better wrestler than any troll he's ever met, and he makes a noise of surprise as pain shoots up his arm. His grip breaks, and if the thing were strong enough to throw him it might have been the end of the fight.

As it is, however, the throw does absolutely nothing except increase the pain in his arm for a brief moment and bring him closer to the monster. And he's still got a free arm. He braces against the grip, using his weight to hold his enemy in place while he goes for a hard left hook to whatever's in easy reach.]

[One free arm is enough to cause trouble, Master Nav taught her that much. And they've each got one now, so she's blindly, reflexively flinging her forearm upwards and outwards in a block, to intercept the hook.

It hurts, oh it hurts, whatever new bone structure this place gave her hadn't been toughened up like her actual one. A squeak escapes her through clenched teeth, and she can't find the strength to fully push that arm of his away. He's got the advantage in far too many ways. What now?

She drops, suddenly, other hand still gripped on his arm, hoping to haul him to the ground along with her. Grappling was never her strong suit but the stand-up fight was going pretty crappily. Time to try something different.]

[Damn it all, it's quick on top of everything! But Thor is not opposed to a good grapple. He goes down on top of the monster, half-falling but managing to catch himself with one knee (ow). Maybe it's stunned enough from the fall that he can pin its arms...]

[She made an effort to break her fall as she came down. A free arm slapped at the ground to deaden the impact, while she tried to hit it with a rolling motion. It's only uncomfortable, rather than painful.

Dakki's more concerned with trying to flip him, though, hooking a leg around his and twisting her hips with purpose. Her arms? They get pinned!]

[Two can play at that game! Thor takes the momentum of the flip and aids her, allowing himself to be pulled underneath, the better to get both arms around her ribs and squeeze. He'll break every rib the troll has, if he can! (This was a much more feasible thing when he had a god's strength; but he's still no lightweight now.)]

[Yay! She's on top! Just where she wanted to b-]

Hhkkk-aaah!

[Oh that hurts hurts hurts HURTS. That was... probably a rib snapping, oh dear... But that pain is going to need to be worked through if she's going to get out of this alive. Since he's crushing at her ribcage and not her arms (presumably), her arms are free... so she does a cross-wise grab at his collar. Her right hand grips at the left side of his shirt collar, and vise-versa. Then she's pulling her arms to either side with all her might, bringing the fabric taut enough to try and choke him.]

Ggghh--! [Suffocating the troll is not going to work if Thor suffocates first. And getting choked to death by a troll would be about the most humiliating death possible. And much as he hates to admit it, he's tiring.

So, he lets go, braces one hand against the troll's chest and the other against its belly, (avoiding the constricting arms) and with a strangled] HRAAAAAAAARGH! [he attempts to fling it bodily off him - or at least put it in enough pain to let go of his collar. (Damn these contricting Midgard garments!)]

[All of her muscle power had been put towards pulling, not towards resisting being tossed away. He had the chance to get a pretty good purchase in, and with a strangled 'awp', Dakki is launched off of him.

Although the throw landed her on her side, her side was not a fun place to be. Her ribs didn't like it. She forced herself to roll onto her back, which was... somewhat better. At least her nose wasn't in contact with the pavement.]

H-hn...

[No more. She was done. There was no way she could get up now and keep fighting. This was it, that was all. Her eyes closed, she let out a long, pained exhalation, and gave up.

Maybe if he saw that she wasn't fighting back, he'd lose interest. Maybe he wouldn't want to just stomp her to death.]

[Thor is up as soon as the constricting weight is off him, breathing like a bellows and already hauling himself to his feet through a wave of dizziness. If he gains his feet before the troll does, he can....

He pauses when he sees that the troll is no longer moving. Waits. Takes a wary step closer.

In another time and place, Thor might have taken his hammer to its skull, just to make sure it would not get up to trouble the realm of Midgard again. Here, without his hammer and with more trolls in his peripheral vision, Thor is in no mood to check its pulse. He only lets out a booming laugh and bellows:]

HA! Vanquished, monster! See what happens when you think to stand against the son of Odin!

[This is as much for the benefit of the other trolls in the vicinity as this one. With a final bellow, he turns and dashes at the next "threat," leaving the vanquished troll behind him.]
