Hickory - The Bike Trip

I decided to take the Northeast Extension to the end and get onto US 6 from there. My GPS gave me a really hard time about that. It kept telling me to turn around and take Rt. 29 to US 6. (Note to self: Next time listen to GPS.) I got onto US 6 somewhere above Scranton. I traveled through Armpit Township, the Borough of Cesspool and a host of other undesirable places. When US 6 intersected with Rt. 29 the scenery improved greatly (hmmmmm). I must say that, if you're not in a rush, US 6 can be one of the most pleasant rides to take. I took my time and enjoyed the scenery. It took me 5.5 hours to get to Hickory from work.

On the trip home I took Rt. 15 along the Susquehanna river to Harrisburg. Nice trip and you can move at a fairly good clip. Passed through Lancaster and avoided the Sunday traffic jams by taking the farm roads that parallel Rt. 30. Nice ride, but you definitely need a GPS to navigate these roads as they twist and turn a lot. This leg of the trip also took 5.5 hours.\

Total mileage for the trip was 635 miles and my butt doesn't hurt. :-D
The riding was the best part of the weekend.
