True Story: On the Run

Mar 13, 2007 17:57

I had a fun run-in with the law last week.

I was out late Thursday night (around 11 pm) driving on Makati Avenue, and I had to drop my friend off at Ayala Center. I wanted to make a left after Landmark. When the stoplight signalled that I could, I turned but the road was already blocked because it was already late. Since it was also no-u-turn, I made a right and entered the small road meant for public transport, as there was a depot there. The depot was also closed so I just exited again. This time, there was a sign that said "no entry from 9am - 10pm". Since it was 11pm, my friend even said: "Ok na, pwede na."

And then suddenly, a cop asked me to stop.

Me: (Flummoxed) Bakit po?
Cop: Bawal po yung ginawa nyo.
Me: Bakit? 11pm na ah. (Referring to the last turn I just did.
Cop: Eh 24 hours po kami eh.
Me: Huh? Eh sabi sa sign ok na after 10pm.
Cop: Ah...er.... ay hindi po yun. Pumasok kasi kayo sa depot. Pang public transport lang po yun. (referring to my first turn)
Me: Eh saan ako papasok? Sinara nyo yung daan eh. Tapos no u-turn. Syempre dun ako papasok.
Cop: Eh pang public transport lang po yun.
(Ultin ba?)
Me: Eh bat hindi nyo pinatay yung stoplight? Kung isasara nyo yung daan, eh di dapat pinatay nyo yung pang left-turn ng stoplight. Nakakalito yung may left turn sa stoplight, tapos kapag left ko, wala palang daan.
Cop: Pakita nga ng license mo.
Me: Ah hindi, bahala ka dyan.
(And then I drive away)

Friend: Tapang mo ah. May motor sya o.
Me: Eh di maghabol sya. Unemployed ako, wala akong pangbayad sa midnight snack nya.

Hmm... I'm not my usual sweet self these days. Bakit kaya? LOL.
