So after the 'restructuring' at work, the adservices department is more streamlined than be for consisting of only 2 teams as apposed to the 7 it was before. Now that things are now in place I now have a new title and a nice sized raise (nice compared to the typical raises at The Star) It is also a relief that the 'restructuring' included the release of a certain hearing impaired employee that has been a pain in my ass for the last 4 years.
I also got recognition today for a monthly award for the most challenging ad, a nice bonus to a decent week at work (and free ice cream treats)
As I progress further into the management path at work, I realize that I really don't miss actually building ads, a practice that, in mass, does not offer much of a creative outlet for real design work. The rare opportunity I get to build an ad is generally during the slow periods at work when some extra time can be taken to 'make look nice' as some of the account execs who sell the ads ask for. I'm also hoping to direct my creativity to more non-work related endeavors, as long as I can keep myself from slacking off too much.
