Holy Crap! My weird funky WoW textures are no more. I have Jon to thank for this, and I also have to acknowledge the irony that I have played this game in a very annoying fashion for well over a year now, while Jon's computer ran WoW smoother than anyone's I had ever seen. Now not only does my WoW run better than it EVER has and Jon's having problems with his WoW, It is pretty much Because Jon's having problems that mine is fixed.
If Jon wasn't having problems he would have never posted in LJ all the things he tried to get it to work, one of those things being adding " -swtnl" to the end of the WoW to use software transform and lighting instead of the built in hardware. I thought to myself, this sounds like something that might help me. I had tried " -opengl" a long time ago at the suggestion of the oh so helpful Blizzard Support Staff, and while this did eliminate the funky textures, it also created a slideshow like performance from WoW and Crashes every 10 min. or so.
So the " -swtnl" worked wonders for me. I was able to play a full hour and some change with no problems. It is amazing to me to be able to run through a zone and follow the road without having to look up at my mini map. I now need to log in as Drunk, just to run around to all the zones and see what the ground looks like.
A HUGE THANK YOU TO
