Have not posted here in a good long while....
The Muay Thai/MMA class wound up being a bigger burden than I could handle financially. For my fighting fix I am going back into the SCA though. Yeah I know the upfront is expensive, but still cheaper than the six months of classes and after I get what I need I can be done for a while. Other than the sites fees, showing up to fight is free.
SCA is also helping me a bit get Theodism out of my system. Here you have the pomp, garb, title throwing and everything else, except that it really only matters for the weekend and anything I contribute is actually appreciated. I was never fond of bringing all the re-enactment stuff into my beliefs as I am here-and-now with them. I understand having a material connection to the ancestors but the way many groups did it, it was pagentry (which yes I had my momnts of) not connection.
Now I still have a lot of need for the high ritual to some extent and I am working on finding a better venue for that. It is just not the vibe going with Holy Spring these days. e have gone what I call "low church" since we all left theodism. Much more off the cuff, more connected to feelings, and less formal, though it still has defined elements. There are times where that is needed in a group and that is cool. Personally though I have had to do things on my own to get to my old levels of enjoyment. That has been a struggle period. As I try to fix myslf physically and emotionally, the spirtual aspect has been geting a work over as well. It however is still floundering some.
I am still teetering around 200 lbs, but that is still almost 35 lbs. down. The heat has slowed down my activity some. I hope the SCA fighting helps boost that up again. I need to breakdown and get some more vigorous exercise done to trim of the leftover fat. My goal is 175-180 so hopefully from the year mark of my diet I will get there. I still have over 6 months to try.
Going back to college this semester too. Damn, has UNT gotten expensive. I am only going to be able to knock out one or two classes a semster, most likely one. Still have 9 to finish.
Oh jobwise, I got a promotion of sorts. I was disignated the reserve driver for one of our satellite bases for the bus barn which is closer to home. In addition to that I will still be doing some light mechanical work and getting a full 40 hours a week. It will be a good thing. The kids will be going back to afterschool care and are out of gymnastics, but that is shaping up well too. Now the kids can try other things that the gymnastic took so much time from.
