I've just read that, in your passport photo, you are prohibited from wearing any sort of hat or headgear 'unless it is worn for religious beliefs' (source: UK Passport Agency Website). Sorry, but I'm calling bullshit on that.

Religion is a choice. It's something you decide to do. So why should you get special treatment in cases like this over people who, say, just really like wearing hats? Why should those who believe in some kind of higher power be exempt from the rules ? Either everyone should get to wear a hat if they wanna, or nobody should be allowed to. Otherwise you're just discriminating against the non-superstitious. That's my line, and I'm sticking to it until someone brings God down the pub and goes, 'Yo, this is God. He told me to wear a hat', and I can be all, 'Oh, hey God. Seriously?', and God's all 'Yo. Wear a hat.'

Oh '...or medical reasons.' But that's fair enough. There's science involved.
