We are the Pretty Petty Thieves

"You have never been in love
Until you’ve seen the stars
Reflect in the reservoirs
And you have never been in love
Until you’ve seen the dawn rise
Behind the Home For The Blind
We are the Pretty Petty Thieves
And you’re standing on our streets

Where Hector was the first of the gang
With a gun in his hand
And the first to do time
The first of the gang to die / oh my
Hector was the first of the gang
With a gun in his hand
And the first to do time
The first of the gang to die /oh my

You have never been in love
Until you’ve seen sunlight thrown
Over smashed human bone
We are the Pretty Petty Thieves
And you're standing on our streets

Where Hector was the first of the gang
With a gun in his hand
And the first to do time
The first of the gang to die
Such a silly boy
Hector was the first of the gang
With a gun in his hand
And a bullet in his gullet
The first Lost Lad under the sod

And he stole from the rich and the poor
And the not-very-rich
And the very poor
And he stole all hearts away"
Morrisey "First of the Gang to Die"

Well, Ed has been admitted to the psychiatric unit of St. Francis Hospital, where he will be given a psychiatric evaluation. Why? Because he thereatened to run away on Sunday night, after we had a huge argument at the dinner table/bedroom. He said horrible things to ariel (most notably 'Go ahead and kill me I'll give you the knife') and tried to goad me into fighting him...
Anyway, mom visited him today. His blood sugar's been all out of wack. He's not mad at mom or ariel, and claims he doesn't remember anything, but still has the energy to hate me. Apparently, I said something to him that was unforgiveable. Maybe it was when I called him 'pig'. If he's so bent out of shape about it, GOOD. I would've called him worse, for what he did to ariel. But I wouldn't hit him. I'm not that low.
Anyway...
More on that as it develops. I'm okay. I was in a decent mood this afternoon....I had just gotten a hair cut (first time in 10 months, too! :D), I found Frankenberry cereal at stop n shop, and our class is going pumpkin picking tomorrow, which should be fun.
It seems likely that I'll be the only TA in my classroom until someone new is hired, as all signs point to Mr. A. being let go (since he's been out 5 days in a row! FIVE! And he didn't call in today...he just plain didn't show up). This is just the current speculation.
If he is...well, I'm sorry, but...good. He's been too unreliable. Unreliable to his fellow staff, and especially unreliable to the kids.
Hell, the kids don't even seem to care anymore when he's not here. What does that tell you?
Anyway, we'll see what happens with that, as well. All I care about right now is having a good time apple/pumpkin picking.
BTW, we have two new kittens in our house! They're about 6 weeks old, brother and sister. They're dark grey with a hint of tiger stripes...mom thinks they might be russian blues. Anyway, the girl is named misty and the boy is named Houdini, for his habit of escaping from his cage every night (somehow). UPDATE: We found out his trick. Mom observed him slipping his body through the bars of the cage. Clever little fuzzball!
Anyway, I know many of you who read my friends-only entry were pretty worried.
No need to be.
We're getting by fine...it's actually less stressful without Ed around, truth be told.
Thanks for your support, it's always appreciated.
UPDATE: Had our field trip today, it was a blast! I think kids and adults both had a wonderful time, and aside from a couple misbehaving kids, everything went very well for both classes. Yay!
