Last Friday was my last day of summer session at Astor Day Treatment, concluding my first seven months working there. Now I'm on my hard-earned three weeks of vacation, while school is not in session, taking it easy until the next schoolyear begins.
Tomorrow, supposedly, I'll be heading to Pennsylvania to visit my family (my dad, specifically, but various sisters, nieces, and nephews, as well).
After that, I am planning on visiting Alan down in virginia. And that'll be fun. IT BETTER BE! Haha, just kidding.
I have lots of memories from my first 7 months at Astor, both good and bad, and I'm sure in the months to come, there will be many more of both. I'm looking forward to going back, but at the same time, I'm very VERY glad to have this vacation.
Anyway, I'm sorry about the last entry. I was freaking out. But I WILL be cleaning my friends list of anyone who doesn't update anymore...except Anya's diary, cause...well, she's a special case.
Anyway, I've been listening to some stuff lately that I hadn't been listening to before, namely Electric Light Orchestra, the Smiths (and of course, Morrisey, that big douchebag), Pulp, Moody Blues, and more DJ Shadow. Oh yeah, and I'm really into the Zombies now. You should be, too.
I've also really started to like this corny old song by Coven, called 'One Tin Soldier'...it was the theme to some movie about some guy named Billy Jack.
Anyway, I love the lyrics, so here they are:
'Listen, children, to a story
That was written long ago
Bout a kingdom on a mountain
And the valley folk below
On the mountain was a treasure
Buried deep beneath the stone
And the valley people swore
They'd have it for their very own
CHORUS:
Go ahead and hate your neighbor
Go ahead, cheat a friend
Do it in the name of Heaven
You can justify it in the end
There won't be any trumpets blowing
Come the judgement day
On the bloody morning after
One tin soldier rides away
So the people of the valley
Sent a message up the hill
Asking for the buried treasure
Tons of gold for which they'd kill
Came an answer from the kingdom
"With our brothers we will share
All the secrets of the mountain
All the riches buried there"
Now the valley cried in anger
"Mount your horses, draw your swords"
And they killed the mountain people
So they won their just reward
Now they stood beside the treasure
On the mountain, dark and red
Turned the stone and looked beneath it
"Peace on earth" was all it said
CHORUS:
Go ahead and hate your neighbor
Go ahead, cheat a friend
Do it in the name of Heaven
You can justify it in the end
There won't be any trumpets blowing
Come the judgement day
On the bloody morning after
One tin soldier rides away'
Not much else to say, really. I'm okay, for the most part, I'm not really angry or bitter with people or anything like that. I think I'm going to enjoy my vacation, enjoy going back to work, and enjoy starting Sunday School again, though the future of our church looks rather uncertain at this point.
I'm sure we'll figure something out.
Anyway, er, I've run out of things to say.
Oh, I saw Rhianon yesterday for breakfast! That was great. She's changed in some ways, but some things about her will never change.
Happy...
