I agree with you, on some parts, mostly regarding the standardized testing but I feel like my educational experience hasn't been completely futile. Sure I was really stressed sometimes, but looking back on it now, I feel like I learned a lot. Not just in terms of academia, but learning how to hurdle obstacles to achieve my goals

I'm not saying that I am against education or anything like that I have gotten a lot out of mine and I plan on continuing. I'm just saying that our schooling is no longer for learning and growth but to capitulate us into the social system. I didnt mean to offend you. I'm going to college also. I'm just saying for MOST people school is just something you do to get a job and nothign more. I know that isnt the case for you and it isnt for me either

Oh, because areas in less developed countries that establish formal learning institutions totally want to capitulate kids into the social system, as oppose to, I don't know, letting them reap the benefits of learning? "What has school done for me?" -say that to students in the poorest region of the Philippines who don't have the luxury of knowledged teachers or books or computers or anything that you have had in school. If you honestly think school has done nothing for you, that's a shame

I'm saying that for so many people its not to learn or grow its just to work their way up the social hierarchy our capitalist society has created. And I didnt say anything about people in other countries. I know people have ambitions to learn and grow (as do I) and thats a really good thing

On human nature: I'm just saying that you make everyone to look like a blind, conforming fool when they are not. At the expense of calling yourself an enlightened exception, you make everyone else appear dumb. But there really are people who want to learn. I don't know know anyone who wants to put themselves through the rigor of college just so they can become machines. Maybe it's the people I surround myself with, but honestly, people are BETTER and MORE motivated than your description of mindless robots

Im not saying im enlightened nor calling anyone dumb! I'm not being an elitist haha I'm saying thats what our culture has done. Smart or not. And I dont think anyone plans on living like that its just how it is... I'm saying there isnt much of a choice.
I'm sorry this entry offended you so much? But I think you got the wrong impression.

And I am "using" this system to learn you act like I dont learn anything in school. I said over and over that I believe in pursuing knowledge etc. but that this system isnt made to do that. Hence Fcat, SAT, etc.

You call people "trapped"...I suppose the opposite of that is enlightened. All I'm saying is that there IS a choice. Just because the system isn't MADE to pursue knowledge, why can't you do it on your own?

You just have such a negative view of the world, always asserting that we either succumb to the system or die out. And that resigning attitude is wrong and I wish you didn't honestly believe that. Because otherwise, every failure will be justified by the "system" ---and that shit is lame.

I'm not angry but whenever I hear this argument it's a defense mechanism, a compensation for one's incompetence. I just didn't expect to hear it from you because I know that you DO value education. I just didn't know that you were such a debbie downer. :-(
