I've been having some interesting thoughts on the subject of sleep, well at least I find them interesting. A few years ago I would have said that sleep was a waste of time. In high school I almost never slept, except as a result of burnout or the so called Yuppie flue. When I came to the university, however, I found that many people are actually addicted to sleep. What I mean to say is that when they get bored they nap, even in mid-afternoon. Now I'm a big fan of sleeping when you're tired, a nap in the afternoon after spending all night inside some ancient and arcane tome is certainly acceptable, but some people seem to just sleep. Last semester I was always pressed to find a place to study because my roommate would be asleep in the middle of the day. In normal standard human style housing this would not have been a problem, but our room was anything but standard human style housing. Anyway, I guess I've come to terms with this little addiction because as my sign proudly states, "Sleep is for the week". I'm sure all of my fellow non-sleepers will agree when I say that the problem with insomnia is not the lack of sleep, it's the over abundance of awakenings.
