Healthier dog biscuits.

I made a similar version to this recipe about a 9 months ago, when I was dog-sitting for my family's dog, Ruben. He absolutely loved these treats, so I thought I'd give the recipe another go and see how they went down with dogs this side of the pond. They're made with whole wheat flour, wheat germ, carrots, a little oil and some egg replacer, so humans could eat them, too! Oh, and I was also looking for an excuse to try out my new bone shaped cookie cutter.

Once they'd cooled, I dropped them off at our neighbours' house. They have two dogs (whose names I don't know how to spell!), and the youngest got extremely excited when he got the scent of treats in the tub I was carrying. They suddenly became very attentive (note that blurred wagging tail!):

Having had a taste, he started licking his chops lots in anticipation of the next treat!

Saying "please":

Nom nom nom!

There are a couple more canine friends who will soon receive some tasty treats, too. I'm even hoping to send some way up North to Canada for a dog that I share my name with! For the time being, though, I'm back home and getting ready for a small dinner party with friends and neighbours. I'm making vegetable pot pie, mashed potato, and vegetables, and then something tasty for dessert. Cookies? Cupcakes? A big cake? I can't decide! I'm sure there'll probably be photos soon!
