I've been bad over the past week or so, and have been lazy with recipe testing for
The Urban Housewife's upcoming book. Granted, I can blame a few days of that on the house having no gas, but still - enough excuses! Today, I got back to it, and made her version of "biscuits and gravy". British readers will probably be perplexed by such a strange sounding meal, but it's actually delicious. American "biscuits" are savoury and almost like scones but fluffier, and, for this meal at least, their "gravy" is not the Bisto-style golden stuff that we're used to, but rather a white and creamy version. I made it along with a fried portabello mushroom. The biscuits were incredibly fluffy and light, and will now be my go-to recipe.
Mmmm, so fluffy!
