Today, I volunteered at
Handmade Arcade, a yearly craft fair held in Pittsburgh. I had originally wanted to have a stall there, but I was told that the food vendor positions were already taken, so I settled with helping out for a couple of hours. Anyway, it was awesome. People had come from all over the country, selling anything and everything from jewellery to baked goods to screen printed stationary to clothing. Had I had a job, I would have treated myself a lot more than I did, but at least I managed to pick up a lot of business cards with
Etsy addresses. Of course, one thing I couldn't help but treat myself to was food. Shocking, right?
Vegan Goodies, another supplier to
Quiet Storm, had a stall in the food area, so I went over to say hi. Disappointingly, neither
Dozen Cupcakes nor
Coco's Cupcake Café had brought vegan-friendly baked goods with them, so VG got my full attention! I started off with a mint chocolate chip cookie, which was thick and rustic looking. I usually like my cookies to be a little softer, with a hint of molasses, but nevertheless, this cookie's subtle taste hit the spot. Although I had been planning on nibbling it a bit at a time over my 2 hour shift, it was gone within 5 minutes(!) Later on, I returned for something to take home with me, and decided on the chocolate chip cake bar (which I was informed, is more cakey than a brownie). It was nice enough, but I would have preferred it to have been richer and erm, more chocolate-y. Still, Deanna was nice and friendly, and she had such a variety of different things *cough* VEGAN CHEESECAKE *cough* that I would love to sample more of another day. I had previously had one of her chocolate/vanilla/Oreo cupcakes at Quiet Storm, and it was delicious and pretty, too!
