I'm coming to the end of my formal education in Manchester, so the past couple of days seem to be a fitting tribute to my time spent here. I've now ticked off some of my main 'to do's': see Morrissey live for the first time, and go on a Smiths tour of his hometown. One of the few things my brother and I share a love of (with the exception of our cat and The Simpsons) is an adoration of The Smiths and Morrissey, so I'm glad that I got to do these things with him; I've got some seriously happy memories of us singing our hearts out to some of our all-time favourite songs!
Just before he came on, whilst You'll Never Walk Alone was playing:
Enter, Morrissey:
Oh, you handsome devil:

An update on
Morrissey's 50th birthday cupcakes: we delivered the cakes just before the show, and they were whisked away to The Circle Bar upstairs, rather than backstage as I'd hoped. I thought that this meant they'd been taken to the staff canteen, never to be seen again, until we later found out that in fact, The Circle Bar is where Morrissey's after show birthday party was being held! After the show, we asked the bouncer who was guarding the entrance if he'd seen any cupcakes in there. I didn't want to give him too much information, because I wanted to know if they were actually in there rather give him an easy answer to make this crazed fan go away, but his reply confirmed it: "Those ones with the big chocolate letters? Yup, definitely in here, nice one!" I'll admit that I burst into tears at the thought that Morrissey would actually see, and possibly eat my cupcakes; I can't put into words how happy it makes me!
The next day, we got up bright and early so as to fit in a brief tour of Morrissey's Manchester.
"I was minding my business, stripping some lead off the roof of The Holy Name Church" - right opposite Uni, I walk past this every day:
Strangeways, here we come:

A dreaded sunny day, so I'll meet you at the Cemetery Gates...
All in all, an awesome couple of days (yes, we're ignoring the failure of the final French Language exam, and the fact that my coat was stolen form the exam hall!).
