Here's a small intro about 881.
It is a local movie directed by an award-winning local director (dunno watz his name liao) Oops..=p But the movie is about how the passion of singing got 2 close friends together as getai singers. They are called Papaya (sounds like 881, when read out in chinese) sisters where the elder one is a straight A student who gave up on studies to pursue her getai singing career whereas the younger one is plagued with cancer. They like singing but initially lack the "feel". So they sought help from Liu Lingling's twin sister, who is the Getai Goddess, to help them fulfill their wishes. In return, they promised not to be touched by any man. Through Liu Lingling (their manager), they shot to fame with the help of the Getai Goddess. However, their popularity soon became the envy of a strong rival, the Durian sisters.
Durian sisters are rich eurasians that lip-sync through recordings and sought all ways to get rid of their potential rivals in the getai industry...which includes the Papaya Sisters. They stopped the papaya sisters from reaching their next getai, did all sort of things and challenged them to a competition. losers have to quit getai forever. In the meantime, the younger papaya sister's cancer condition grew worse...
So the ending was that young papaya sister died of cancer after defeating the durian sisters while the elder papaya sister continued singing and look forward to every 7th month becos datz when the papaya sisters will be reunited....
Overall, a touching and lovely show...which i watched twice. *sob sob*
