KEEP YOUR ROSARIES OFF OUR OVARIES

Dec 06, 2005 01:44

The following are the photos taken of our Burma Shave immediately after we put the signs up on Sunday night.  It was dark, so please excuse the poor quality!  You would have all been able to see how great these huge 3X4 feet signs looked if they hadn’t been taken down (by the order of President Nazarian) soon after they were put up.  Just to keep everyone updated, our display of feminist activism was not well received.  We spent most of today meeting with the necessary people in search of the true reason as to why our signs were removed, however, we have yet to get to the bottom of things.  Tomorrow, we will continue in our quest to receive justice. Speaking freely, we are very upset about the situation and do no feel that our signs should have been taken down.  We took all the necessary precautions and followed the rules given to us and feel that we should have had the freedom to voice whatever we wanted to on the signs.  As far as the context of the signs, we had no intention of offending the President of the college or any other parties.  Our pure intention was to promote awareness on campus regarding the issues of reproductive freedom.  We used the catchy phrase for our burma shave to grab the attention of those passing by not to specifically attack those who use rosaries.    Because the issue is still fresh and technicalities have yet to be ironed out, we will keep this brief!

Please give us some feedback!  Let us know what you think about the situation!
