Long ago, I had a summer vacation.

It's about time I tell you about how my summer was. Yeah, I know it's a long time ago, but things have been busy, and I really haven't found the time to sit down like this and write about it.

Well, the vacation started more or less with my car breaking down. And I had thought of having a car vacation, too, so this sucked big time. This actually happened about a week before the vacation started, but we hadn't fixed it yet when the vacation started. It was frustrating, I looked at it, my dad looked at it, two of my uncles looked at it, and I had a professional mechanic look at it: none of us could see what the problem was.
Then, as me an my dad were measuring power through the engine (we had found out it was a power failure), I discovered a little switch inside the car. And I knew this was a switch that stopped the engine and prevented it from starting again. And i thought "shouldn't that switch be flipped the other way?" So I flipped it over. And voila, the car started. If that car had a mouth, it would laugh silly at us. Myself, my dad, two uncles and a mechanic had been done in by a stupid switch. We could do nothing but laugh at it.

Anyway, the next day I was on my way north, to Brønnøysund, to see a friend I hadn't seen in years. Last time we met was when I was in the army, and that's two or three years ago. It was really nice seeing her again, we watched a movie, went out to meet her friends, and she showed me around. I've never been that far into Brønnøysund, only been in the outskirts before. She showed me the place that had Brønnøysund's best burger. She and her friend even claimed it to be the country's best burger. It was really good, and really tasty. But it was nothing like the Sesam burger in Trondheim, THAT is the country's best! Oh well, Brønnøysund can have a fourth or third place or something :P
Anyway, I had a good time up there, but I had to leave early, due to a call from a car mechanic who was scheduled to change a part in my car. He had time the next day, so I had to get back to town again. So I had to say goodbye to Brønnøysund and head southwards.

On the way I stopped by my Uncle and Aunt in Namdalen. My two small cousins were happy to see me, too, and they even had auntie's parents visiting. I stayed there for dinner and coffee, I really enjoy being with my family :D I had to leave the same evening, though. The trip back to Trondheim went swift, I was home by nighttime. I just headed home and fell asleep on the couch in my room.

Next day, I drove to a store and bought the part for my car, and went out to Øysand, where the mechanic changed it. SO good to know a mechanic who can do that kind of service. A car job that would have cost me about 3000 NoK in other garages, he did for 600, plus the 200 that the part costed. Lucky!

As soon as the job was done, I headed south to Oslo. Was to visit a friend there, too. But stopped by another uncle, aunt and cousins of mine in Hamar for a swift visit. Was very swift, I stayed for a pizza and a little chat, before I had to head on to Oslo, I was scheduled to pick up my friend after she had finished up at work.

I spent a whole week in Oslo, and the days when my friend was on her job, I spent wandering around in Oslo. Met up with
harskillz and we even was stopped on the street by a guy from Dagbladet (tabloid paper) and was asked a few questions about which banks we used and such. Was fun. I met up with other friends too, I know a few people in Oslo.
Something not so fun was me getting sick during my Oslo stay. Had one day wandering around town when I felt dead tired and not very well. Endured the day until my friend got off from her work and met up with me. We went home, and she put me to bed right away. I slept the rest of the evening, the night, and woke up next morning, still a little feverish. My friend ordered me to stay at home that day, so I did. So I slept through half the day, then I was feeling all better, and started to get bored. Ended up with cleaning the house, washing the dishes, folding the dry clothes and such, until she got home. I think she appreciated me tidying up for her, she ain't the tidyest one herself :P

After one week in Oslo, I headed furhter down south. Drammen was next stop. There's a girl living there, one I got to know at DarkDate, and I was scheduled to meet up with her. So I did, and we had a good time in Drammen. Had a burger there too :P After being in town for a little while, we went to the outskirts, over to the house of a friend of hers, where we sat down and watched a movie. Dragonheart, with Dennis Quaid as a knight and Dragon hunter. And Sean Connery as the voice of a dragon. Pretty dragon!!! :D And during the movie, the dragon (Connery) uttered "Yikes!" I've NEVER heard Sean Connery saying "yikes", it was so funny I almost fell on the floor laughing. I am SO gonna buy that movie :D

But then, the best part of my vacation started :D I got a message from
nilfy's sister, she wanted to give her sister a birthday surprise (This was her birthday). So she asked me to ask her for directions when I was to come. And me, missing my friend, and also wanting to surprise her, said yes. So I left Drammen and drove down to Farsund and Vanse, (stopped by a shop to buy some birthday candy) then called her sister and asked for directions. I managed to find the place, and Nilfy came out, with a WIDE smile. I'd say she was surprised :D Her sister had pulled quite many strings to make this work, and I was very happy to see her again. It turned out the whole family except Nilfy, knew I was coming. She has such a nice family, I liked them immediately.
As soon as I arrived, I was stuffed with birthday cakes (very tasty) and then Nilfy and I went to meet up with some friends of hers. We rented a movie, "Keeping Mum" with Rowan Atkinson and Maggie Smith. Quite the hilarious one!
Next day, we babysat her two youngest siblings. First I played some basketball with her little sister, then I got this idea of making a mini golf game, using the different articles lying around in their garden. They turned out to like it very much, they came often the next days to ask if we could play more mini golf. I fell in love with those two kids, they were such fun to be with. At the evening, I helped Niilfy's father chopping some wood. Such fun to chop wood, I like it :D
Upon being there, I had one day making pancakes for dinner as well. Turned out they liked it, those who were eating it, anyway... And Nilfy's parents bought me, Nilfy and her brother a helicopter trip. Crazy people, are they trying to get me married into that family or what?? It was a wonderful experience, I love riding helicopters :D
One day, we headed over to Lyngdal to meet up with
lu_valentine and Yankie, to watch Pirates of the Caribbean - Dead man's chest. We dressed up as pirates - well, I had less pirate clothes, so I dressed up as Squall Leonhart, being at the wrong place from after Time Compression :P - and went to see the movie. I liked it, can't wait to see the next :D
Next day, we went to Kaperdagene in Farsund. The family were to take part in a boat race (slow boats, so not much of a RACE-race, but a race anyway) and we all took part in it. Before the race me and Nilfy took the little kids to a small amusement park, riding the merry-go-round, and I bought them candy floss. Popularity +10 :P
We also met up with Lu and Yankie who came to Farsund to see a band play, and they joined in on the boat race. We lost, but it was fun anyway :D
After watching the band, me and Nilfy went home to change into pirate clothes again, we were going to a pirate party in Kristiansand later that evening. Upon returning to Farsund, we met up with Lu and Yankie, who were to come too. Then we all drove off to Kristiansand.

The pirate party was funny, there were music, ball play, frisbee and lotsa snack. I hardly knew any of the people there except Lu, Yankie and Nilfy, but it was fun anyway :D When finished, me and Nilfy had planned on going to the Kristiansand Zoo the next day, so we spent the night in my car on the parking lot. Next day we drove by Esso for breakfast. Burger again :P (Esso burger rolls in second after Sesam in Trondheim)
And after a while in a queue, we finally came into the park. I had such fun in there, looking at the animals, visiting Cardamom Town (Kardemomme by) and all the other stuff there. They're getting lions there next year, I am SO gonna go there :D We spent the whole day in there, and wrapped it up by watching the 40th anniversary show. Drove back to Nilfy's afterwards.
The day after, we all went to the beach. Had such fun bathing, building sand castles and competing in jumps, runs and such.
Yes, that really was the best part of my summer :D I'm coming back next year!

After spending a week at Nilfy's, I headed northwards to Karmøy to visit a girl I had known over the Internet for several years, but never met IRL. Now I got to meet both her, and her family: her mother and three sisters. I was the one guy in a house full of women for three days. Weird! :P (And for those who gets thoughts, there were no funny business while I was there..) But all in all, it was fun meeting her :D We went out for a trip to Haugesund, and then back to Kopervik, where we stopped by a late barbeque place and ate. (Damn, how much hamburger I ate this summer...)
It was a brief visit, but I enjoyed it anyway. I hope I haven't seen her for the last time :)

I had planned to go to Bergen to visit an Army Buddy, but he had taken off to India, so wasn't that easy :P Instead I drove across the country and came to Lillehammer, where I visited another friend of mine I hadn't seen in a long time. Got homesick after one night there, so drove back home the next day.
Only minus was some crap bully who'd stabbed a knife into my tire, so had to change that before I could go anywhere. It was completely flat! Lucky I had a spare tire with me.

As soon as I got back to Trondheim, I moved into my new apartment.
Conclusion: yes, I had a very nice summer :D

*phew* That was it...

Next update coming I don't know when.. But it will come ;)
