24. Empty Nest
Last week was strange and cruel - more cruel than the usual things the hibou do. At first, I was very excited, and I ran to the Strahl meeting place to see the others - but there was no one there. There was no one anywhere. It was almost frightening, walking around the Academy and having it be so very silent.
Many of the others seem to have disappeared by the time we were all returned here. I think some had been gone for a while, but it wasn't until after last week, when I was desperate to see familiar faces, that it really struck me. They must have been returned to their homes. I mean, their real homes - not the fake ones that we were sent to. It's rather sudden, isn't it? ... Ah! What am I saying? I'm sure they're very happy to be able to return to their friends and family! If they're happy, then I'm happy too! I wish the very best for them!
...I wish I could have gotten to say goodbye, though.
