Just WHO
turned off the sun? Monday it was 90, hot and humid, yesterday,
in the 60's and rainy, today, even cooler, 51 currently and still
RAINY. BLECH! I know New England weather changes in a heart beat,
but this is foolish.
Now to get the Maddy munchkin motivated for school. Yesterday I went
through the Montessori curriculum and made a list by subject of things
they've covered in grades 1 and 2 that we may have skipped or skimmed
over. FIVE PAGES LATER (probably 1-1/2 if I'd typed it) I had a list.
Many of the things are broken down into very small categories, like
identifying numbers through millions, understanding place value through
millions and adding and subtracting through millions. Some things we
just need to touch on, so when she gets to school in the fall and they
get out a history time line, the teacher doesn't have to stop and
explain it to Maddy.
We also got some French tapes as she'll be learning French in school,
and is going to Quebec in late July with my folks (yes I know it's a
different kind of French). We also got Rock 'n Learn
tapes for addition and subtraction tables (one of the joys of Maddy's
dyslexia is it's easy to memorize things like this, but they don't stay
in her head, so constant review is needed) and phonics/reading.
Smallness thought the tapes were fun, so at least this won't be a chore.
Time to turn on a few lights and brew more coffee. I so dislike multiple dreary days.
