I may be funny, but practical, jokes have never been my forte, so I'll leave them to someone else.
Been sick for a week now. Nothing serious, just annoying. Upset tummy,
inability to eat anything other than small amounts of bread and drink
moderate quantities of apple juice, ginger ale and tea. Feels like my
tummy has gone 11 rounds with Mohammad Ali (ouch).
Had a nice birthday lunch with my mom, Aunt Sharon, Valla (my dad's
cousin 15 years his senior) and Maddy at Jameson Tavern in Freeport on
Monday. Since the tummy was in the early stages of not cooperating I
had a very tasty French onion soup. My mom made sure I was embarrassed
and had the wait staff bring out a cake complete with candles
(fortunately only about 10 not the full 32) and sing Happy Birthday to
me (I made sure she tipped well).
Tuesday smallness and I rented movies and vegged. Wednesday we
attempted school, which went well until her concentration flew to
Disneyland at 2pm. Yesterday she looked as if she hadn't slept in a
week, so I reluctantly gave her a benadryl and let her watch a movie
until she came and crawled in bed with me and slept all afternoon.
Today, kidlet is good, mommy's still ickysick, blech!
A couple of days ago, needing something to do with my hands, but not
wanting to strain my eyes, I got out some lovely burgundy and gray
romney roving I'd received in a trade a while ago. It slipped
through my fingers effortlessly in about a fingering weight and
looks beautiful. Yesterday, while browsing through the winter Spin Off
(waiting impatiently for the spring issue) and came across the Twisted
Scarves article. Perfect. I should have the bobbin finished tonight and
plied tomorrow (I spin slow) then to set the twist and off I go. It's a
bit late in the year for a scarf, but what the hey, it will be ready
for fall.
