Friday.... spend all day mailing shit home, going to doctor, and whatnot. At 6:30 I have to leave for a 7:00 drinking party. At 6:28 they call and ask me to give a speech in Japanese at the party. Right. Went to the party, gave shitty speech, and got totally drunk with the teachers. Adn I told them all aboiut how one of the English teacher sucks and is crazy and he doesn't speak English (all true). They thought it was hilarious, but now I feel bad. But, I did lecture them on how it is ridiculous to be scared of black people (which they freely admit to being) so maybe the morals balanced out.
Either way... Saturday...got up at 5:30 due to weird dreams...dozed until 7, when I got ready to climb Mt. Fuji! Got on the bus at 9, and finally got to the mountain at about 5pm. Started climbing at 6:30 pm (the goal is to get to the top right at sunrise). We did really well, there were about 6 of us together and we took it slow and took long breaks all the time. It was freaking freezing up there so we would walk for a while and sit until we froze and walk some more. Around 2 am we could see the top, so we started up the last bit (sunrise is at 4 am in Japan. seriously). So we start up...into the biggest human traffic jam you can imagine. It was seriously take one step...wait 2 minutes...take one step... at this point, I had been up about 24 hours, and then it started sleeting. So the last 2 hours were SHEER HELL. I was dead on my feet. The sun was about to rise though so me and Katie literally ran around all these people and got to the top just in time to see....nothing! It was so cloudy there was no sunrise! But it was freaking freezing and the windiest place in the world, so after some ($4) hot chocolate, we headed back down. Which was 4.5 hours of STRAIGHT DOWNHILL HELL. My knees hurt so bad I couldn't ride my bike later, Either way, we got back on the bus by 11 am and I got home at 8:30 pm. Long weekend. It was fun, but I would NEVER, EVER do it again.
Tonight my friend is having a party but I can't go since she until last week had an indoor cat. So I won't get to see a lot of people for the last time. Which sucks, but not as much as going somewhere were there has been a cat, so...
