Matching earrings and rants on head colds
I have a stupid f-ing head cold and had to stay home from work... it was only supposed to be my second day back. Oh well, Monday instead, right? Let me just say, for that lovely record I'm always talking on, it really really sucks to sneeze and cough when your skin has not quite fully reattached itself in places post surgery. Also, I burnt my wrist making soup. Blah.
In other news, I made earrings that go with the Steampunk necklace I posted the other day. A friend was kind enough to model them for me, so I have some quick pictures. These were made a little more quickly than I'd like because I thought she should have earrings to go with the necklace when she borrowed it, but there wasn't much time. I do like how they turned out, and they go with my concept for them, which was that they wouldn't match from side to side than the necklace itself does, but that they would hold with the overall aesthetic and go with the necklace.
And just for fun, a photo of the LOVELY earrings my friend R got me. She recognized one of my favorite local jewelry artists at an event and got me a pair of her earrings. I have coveted her work for some time (there's a necklace she makes that I want like woah) but haven't ever been able to justify buying any of it (I can rarely justify buying jewelry that's already made, even when it's brilliantly well made, because I always tell myself I could make something that looks close enough to wear without all the cost, so I should really pay for things like say... medical bills or rent instead) They are just awesome and R is just awesome to have gotten them for me :-D
