[ Garviel turns on the tree. He punches it too. The tree does not survive the encounter, shattering asunder and falling slowly from the force of the armor-enhanced Astartes. ]
Terra!
Is there no mercy, no respite here? She was everything to me, my oathsworn partner. And now she's... so far away. And neither of us can save her.
[ His chest heaves one, and then the anger seems to slip away. ]
You know, she'd be yelling at us, acting like this. Anger and sulking is uneccesary flab on the mind, she'd say. We need to think of.... something. How to break this town and bring her back. We must.
Even if she does, Lancer, you know we can't stay here forever. We have homes to return to, lives, and duties. While it is one thing to be patient and wait for an opening to strike, of late it has felt like we are almost getting too comfortable here. We must remember that this -is- a prison. And the masters here are cruel...
I know she will come out of it in time. She is strong.
And yet....
[ Garviel looks in the direction of the dairy. ]
Other strong people have been droned before. They don't always come back.
...I have nothing to return to. Once I go back, that's it. The next time I'm called by a magus as Servant Lancer, I won't remember anything of the war I fought in Rin's era, Mayfield, or whatever else.
[He sighed, shrugging his shoulders.]
I know. But I also know that Rin is the kind of girl that refuses to let things like this beat her.
I'm proud to say I'm the loyal Servant and guard dog of Rin Tohsaka, and I'll wait as long as it takes for her to come back. Or burn Mayfield to the ground to get her back.
[Booms a very familiar voice, and the armored marine approaches Lancer somewhat gingerly, unsure of his mood.]
What troubles you?
Reply
[Shit. Shit, he didn't know and Lancer would have to be the one to tell him. This just kept getting better.]
...It looks like my Master hasn't snapped out of the most recent shit Mayfield's decided to pull on us.

That's assuming she doesn't come out of it on her own. We don't know that she won't, and I've already seen a few people from back home pull it off.
[But always the wrong people. And it was never Bazett that looked at him with anything but that blank and mindless smile now.]
