I think that word should exist if it doesn't already.
Spring having sprung, I am possessed with a desire to re-tool my LJ life. I was hoping to do this when they changed the "friend" category to "read/view" categories, but that doesn't seem to be happening any time soon. Therefore:
1. I will be adding some people to my friends list, specifically people whose journals I read but who more than likely don't have the slightest idea who I am. This is for ease of reading; if you're trying to figure out who the hell I am, don't feel obligated to friend me back.
2. Almost everything I post is friends-protected. I use filters a lot, too (eg. fanfic/fandom, Chicklit, personal stuff). If you (any of you, not just new people) want to be included in or left out of a specific filter (for whatever reason), please speak up.
3. If I never say anything you're interested in, don't be afraid to take me off your friends list. It won't hurt my feeling, and I may or may not de-friend you as well. If I haven't friended you and you wish I had, speak up about it and tell me what filter(s) you want to be on.
4. This is an open-ended post, so if you show up here ages from now and want to be friended/de-friended/whatever, go ahead and leave a comment.
