Ahh, the joys of being a work from home mom...

So I'm at the computer, my usual spot. I need to get some invoices out since it's Friday and I've procrastinated all week. However, I didn't take into account that I had two separate mom obligations, resulting in having one child home for the day instead of preschool.

She wants me to be doing anything but sit at my desk. I say, "I'm almost done, hold on a minute. Here, watch TV."

She doesn't budge, but instead starts to dance a very familiar dance in front of my desk. I ask suspiciously, "Honey, do you have to go potty?"

Her voice is strained when she answers, "No."

I nod, although I'm not convinced, "Are you sure? You really look like maybe you have to go."

She shakes her head, unable to answer. Now I've been in this situation many times. If I force her, it's an absolute nightmare. So I decide that maybe it's best that she learns how to identify her bodily urges on her own. But I try one last time... "Why don't we go to the potty, just to be sure."

She yells, "NO!" and runs off.

I sigh, *patience*. Less than two minutes later, I hear the pitter patter of little footsteps racing to the bathroom. The footsteps change to frantic jumping around once she gets there. There's a brief silence, then, "Uh oh. Mommy, can you come here for a second?" *headdesk*

So once that's taken care of, I can sit down and finish my invoicing. They're all printed and in their envelopes. One last step before the mailbox... I soon realize my dilemma and growl in mild frustration, "Stamps Are Not Stickers!"

Now we're going to go get in the car to get her sister. A customer will call and the two of them will scream the entire time in the back seat. It's only 2:00. Thank God I love my kids.
