up and down the mountain and around again...

so as i'm currently surrounded by boxes (yet again, but fear not, i am winning this time) i shall update on latest adventures.

my parents came out to visit for almost 2 weeks, bringing with them the rest of my worldly belongings and my cat. in fact, later on when the powers that be decided i would only have left in my bank account a minuscule amount the saying was "I only have $X to my name!" "...and a cat"

currently international relations between dog and cat are continuing to stabilize, though i've been rather happy with the outcome. Bernoulli wants to play with Zion all the time, but she does get jealous of him. Zion for his part is still rather confused about this whole moving business that happened in a three day drugged haze and spends most of his time under the bed, though he hung out with me for awhile last night. he tends to look at Bernoulli like "i'm getting too old for this", thus what happens when you combine a 9 month old puppy with a 6 year old cat.

adventures with parents:
first i took them around the area alot and there was shopping and exploring of White Sands, and eating of lots of Mexican food. it was really good to see them, i had missed them alot. however it was also kind of weird, especially when we went up to santa fe and stan had to stay down here because of work. it was like i was a teenager again, like this whole growing up and getting married thing was a mirage. and while it was fun to be a kid again, it was weird and i just wanted my husband and adult-ness the whole time.

one weekend all of us (including stan! yay!) went up to this great observatory called New Mexico Skies up nearish cloudcroft. the owners are classic astronomers, they can be a bit rigid and cantankerous, but they know their stuff and get really excited when they find other excited people. we got to play with a 15" and 25" dobson scopes and stare at jupiter alot, and i sat and just watched the stars alot, yay for shooting stars! i saw some really cool ones. stan got out all his camera gear and took some really good pictures of the stars, milky way, equipment we were using. plus in the day time we went down to the arroyo for a fossil hunt, and i was a very happy camper, crinoids every where! soo... we're planning on going back in December.

after than, me and the 'rents headed up to santa fe/albuquerque where my mother was able to increase her fossil/rock collection substantially and we were the family running around sandia peak staring at not the trees, or the flowers really, but all the rocks and pointing out all the fossils to every passer by. you can take the teacher out of the school, but you can't take the school room out of the teacher, we'll just make where ever we happen to be standing one. my mom is very happy/thinks its hilarious that i have finally decided to go into teaching. she's been telling me for years i would end up doing that, but i always told her no. guess mother knows best.

by the end of the trip mom was actually shopped out, though we found this awesome "store" (really like a collection of them sorta) called jackalope. (http://www.jackalope.com/index.html) it truly was quite an experience.

and to avoid making this too long i'll just close with the critter count:

3 roadrunners
many, many hilarious humming birds
chipmunks
a big pretty hawk, possibly Harris, we're still not sure
numerous rabbits and quail.
cool beetles.
and.... perhaps thats it. so long for now!
