And now for that update I promised you guys.

Since I got back from being home things have been pretty steady going.  My time back home let me focus on things that I want and what I need to do to get there.  The day after I got home, I had a whole list of things to do compiled and I told Cory about all of that.  On the one hand we have a list of "figure out how to get there and then get there" kinds of things that are just going to be a pain because of Army bureaucracy. On the other list we have repairs that I want to get done to the house so we can make a decent profit when we sell it in two years.
On top of this second list was "Get plumbing fixed."  You may or may not know that since we've moved into this house the water in my kitchen sink hasn't been able to get down the drain;  I've been scooping water into buckets and tossing it out the window like the housewives of yester-century.  Very SCA, but incredibly straining for the every day.
Anyway, I told Cory about what Sean had told me that something might be stuck in the U trap and he said he would take care of it.  So he got one of his friends to come over and they managed to dismantle everything and find out that this was in fact not the problem, and then had no way to put everything back together.  Well done, boys.
The next day when I talked to mom, I told her what happened and she said she would help me get a plumber over there who knew what he was doing.  God love you, my dear sweet wonderful mother.  So we had Joe the plumber in his navy overalls come over and he figured out that the house still had its original galvanized steel piping which had, since whenever the house was build, rusted shut and turned into an exciting mini cave of wonders inside.  So Joe came in and pulled all the old pipes out and put new plastic pipes in.  The most ghastly scraping noises shook the house for 6 hours, but THE WATER GOES DOWN THE DRAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1  It was like Christmas morning when I saw that.
But that, my dear readers was not the most exciting part of the day.  It seems, while the house was vacant we think we had someone running a meth lab underneath our house or at least we had someone hanging out down there.  I say this, because underneath the house we found a 3 plate gas burner and assorted broken glass things.  They'd siphoned power from the house by cutting wires and left them dangling there live, which explains why some of the outlets in my house don't work, and there was a freaking fire pit with a very resourceful exhaust system so they didn't burn the house down.  Everybody thought I was crazy when I said I saw someone looking in the window at me, but now I have PROOF!  I'm NOT crazy! Or at least I'm not seeing things!
Other than that scary bit of realization, the rest of the week so far has been absolutely potty.  I sat there for a good 2 minutes just watching the water go down the drain and thanking God for plumbers.  It's amazing how much you take something like a working drain for granted until your drain doesn't work anymore.

Other than that, nothing really happened today.  Cory had guard for some of the morning, so he had half the day off.  I more or less usurped the computer for the day, so he spent it watching Dragon Ball GT episodes on youtube.  My uncle is supposed to be sending me his old lap top that he doesn't use anymore, so we won't have so many logistical issues with computer time.  I can sit and work on writing projects in the comfort of the living room while he's playing his games online.

That's everything that's happened since I've been back.  I'll try to have some more "Charles" up sometime this week.
G'night!
