Mom is flying in tonight. I am really excited, because, lets face it, my mom is pretty cool and I never get to see her as often as I wish. I'm also a little nervous, because it'll be the first time she meets J and the baby. Not that I'm anticipating any problems because J is an amazing guy...but its more like all I want is for her to like him! Its been a while since Mom's liked any of my boyfriends, not that I can really justify any of them in hindsight...
So the plan is that I'll get Mom from the airport tonight, then chill at my place. I booked massages tomorrow as a surprise for her. I'm sure there will be some shopping involved. I also need to get a dining room table (yes, I'm still eating at my coffee table a la New Years 2006!). Tomorrow night J is coaching both JV and Varsity basketball, and we'll try to simultaneously watch the games and the baby...which often is difficult with a very active 16 month old. But she is darn cute so hopefully that'll make up for the squirminess. Saturday morning we are going to go to the farmers market (indoors, seeing that there is a high of um, zero). Then meet up with J and Baby later on, possibly checking out the National Aviary. We are also planning on hitting the Melting Pot Fondue Restaurant, although I'm thinkin it may not be super-baby friendly...
Here's the kicker though. On Sunday, we are going to my friend Shailen's Super Bowl Party, so instead of having J drive home and back, I asked Mom if she would be comfortable with J and Chi spending the night in the living room. And she said, "Well, why don't the three of you sleep like you normally do and I'll sleep in the living room." WHAT????? I was so taken aback... this is not my conservative mother, especially since J and I are not married and have only been dating for 4 MONTHS! Perhaps this is the beginning of a new era?
But I have to assume that if she is okay with us sleeping in the same bed, its a good indication that she likes him already???
