Long Saturday night post...
Erm...Saturday night and I am stuck inside again...It's not that I didn't want to get out, but it's raining outside and I am somehow, not in the mood( now, how very original is that? ). So anyways, I decided to post a new LJ entry just to alleviate my apparent boredom. I' ll soon have to decide what film I am gonna watch tonight and that's gonna be a real pain....
I orderered two books yesterday, one of them being Future Lovers Vol. 1, by Kunieda Saika. If you are into yaoi at all (
jun_yumemakura ?) , I heartily recommend her works. They are not so cliché as other yaoi mangas, that's why I love her. So, you have loads of twists and turns in her stories, a lot of blushing --by ukes and semes alike--as well as playfulness as far as the stereotyped roles of semes and ukes are concerned and well...general loveliness and hot gay sex ;D. In fact you can read her recently posted series of oneshots here in
yaoi_daily .
The second book, Alexander by German author Gisbert Haefs, was recommended to me by
mizrychik62 .
I honestly couldn't resist the temptation of getting this when she said that it involved a lot of Philip awesomeness (and A/H cuteness)...So be prepared for giggles in a few weeks, when I start reading this ;D
And just when you thought that I was through with mentioning Alexander in yet another post....I must say, you are mistaken XD
I am still reading Green's Alexander of Macedon...And I got to the to the part where he says that Alexander "actively disliked ugly people"( p.267).... I haven't flicked through the pages to see get to where he says that Hephaistion was stupid and useless , as
parisad told me, but WTF???Why so much hate and all those negative judgements? I can't get it...I mean its ok, if you do not like some historical figures, but as a historian, I think it is expected to keep such vitriolic comments to yourself, especially when there are no sources mentioning or verifying your claims!Anyways...
Moar Alexander news? Ok then!
After Archbischop Demetrios, the head of the Greek Orthodox Church in America, compared Obama with Alexander the Great(lolz...) and news reporting that Alexander's tomb may be in Australia(!!!), I read today that various artifacts are being returned to Kabul's National Museum. What has Alexander got to do with that, you will ask yourselves? Well, it is assumed that a glass phallus amongst those artifacts, may be the only known object in the world today, Alexander has actually set his hands upon O_o
