Amigurumi time!

You know what I haven't posted in a long while? Crochet dolls. I looked back and realized that the last one I posted was big!RayK last January. Which is pretty pathetic, because I've done lots since then. Those of you who know me IRL have already seen all of these, I think, but for those that don't know me IRL (and for posterity's sake), here we go!

Based on the same Big & Cuddly pattern at Pixelated Mushroom that I used before for big!RayK (and the 11th Doctor, who is straight from that blog). I did him in a mad dash of less than a week so I could bring him with me to my second viewing of the Avengers in May. Was still finishing his shield at the theatre, but he was basically done and cuddle-able in time.

Based on the same pattern as above. The hair took freaking forever but I love how he turned out.

Mal, Jayne, Zoe, and Kaylee - all from the same pattern as above, and auctioned off for charity at the Vancouver 'Can't Stop the Serenity' event this summer. I miss them, but they went to good homes and 3 of them went to people I know, so... I can always see them again if I wanted to. :)

Little Mal Reynolds made for my friend (the organizer of the local Browncoats group) for her birthday this summer.

Londo from Babylon 5, because dammit I exercised self restraint over four years ago when I didn't make this. (fyi spoilers for season 4 further down in that post, below the picture). And I was rewatching the show and thought to myself "I need B5 dolls. Londo first. But how will I do the hair?? I'll figure it out." Easier with crochet than with the old fabric dolls I used to make, anyway. I think that's why I never made him back them - no clue how I would have made the hair (felt I guess, and possibly some kind of stiff paper backing). The hair should really be higher, and it actually does look higher in real life, but oh well.

(I had a brief crazed thought to make the entire cast next, but that didn't happen... instead the Avengers happened, see below. I'd still like to make a G'kar to go with him, but not sure how to best go about that!)

Made using this pattern. His horns don't really stay up, but oh well.

Tony

Steve

Thor

Clint

They're all kinda different sizes even though I wrote down the pattern as I made the first one (Tony) and tried to stick with it, because apparently my crochet gauge is all over the place. Also different yarns. I'll blame it on that!

I have Natasha started but unfinished. Still intend to make the rest of the cast (either Hulk or Bruce, can't decide, plus Coulson and Fury). Eventually.

So yeah, that's all of them pretty much. There are a couple of other small things I made from patterns as gifts, but not really worth posting here. Right now I've been slaving over a Tardis blanket which is taking forever, in part because I keep being distracted by other things. But it'll be awesome when it's done!

Oh, and I finally binge-watched Teen Wolf this weekend while sick. It is indeed strangely addicting and actually genuinely quite good after the first few eps. Started reading fic, god help me.

And then my Mom came over on Monday and gave me a mini-present for my birthday (I'll get my proper present tomorrow, apparently, for various reasons):

She said that she bought him for me thinking of Dief from dS because she knows how into that I was, but of course right now my first thought went to Teen Wolf... so even though he is ridiculously cute and cuddly I have named him Derek. Not exactly a scary looking Alpha with those eyes, I know, but...

And now I really have to go to bed, because I'm still not feeling 100% and I'm exhausted. One more day of work, and then flying to Halifax!! Downloading Teen Wolf podfic for the airplane so I can 'read' fic and crochet at the same time. Woo! :)
