Well now that I can legally talk about election results *eyeroll*... ugh. Not surprising I guess, but ugh. Here's hoping he doesn't get a majority. NDP as the opposition will be interesting, though ( Read more... )

i was so hoping for a minority. damnit. well i didnt vote for them. heh.

but aside from conservative policies, Harper is fantastic political strategist (he knows how to get votes). but I am glad the bloc are practically non existent, and strong ndp official opposition

Yes well, being a good political strategist isn't going to make me like someone if I disagree with their policies and general world view. ^^

But yes, I'm glad the Bloc got decimated - fine for them to have a few seats to represent Quebec, but 20+ was ridiculous. And yay for NDP! :)

well while i was hoping for a minority, i had a feeling it was actually going to be a majority. im not really surprised.

kind of realized it might go that way when canadians were basically equally divided for or against capital punishment in a poll done a little while ago.

Yeah me neither. Just depressed. I want my country back in the hands of the left wing, but I don't know which party I'd actually want in charge. ^^ One thing about the US, I guess, is that it's a clear cut choice...

Are we really? o.o Wow, I would've thought we'd be pretty largely against it. Yeesh.

(I just hope he doesn't use his newfound power to, say, try to overturn same-sex marriage again... or cut arts funding even more. (though I was wrong about that 90-something% number I told you the other day - that's provincial. One of Campbell's little legacies...). Hopefully not. And hopefully the NDP will be able to keep him in check a bit? I dunno... I'm glad that the Green finally got a seat, though!)

oh they did. sweet!!!!!

well from an economic point of view capital punishment makes sense. especially for the higher echelon of nasty criminals. dont have pay to keep them in prison because theyre dead.

but morally it might be a bit..off.

well i know harper has been getting flak from his own party because he wasnt talking about samesex marriage, abortion, and capital punishment. so i dunno if he'll bring it up.

well i always wondered about death row, i mean if a government is going to go that route, why be half assed about it. if you going to kill them under calm controlled circumstances why not do it at a more efficient pace.

i know its dark.

yeah when i hear the news about osama i was like fuck yeah! had a few beers with friends who had gotten back from afghanistan. ive never been so happy that someone was shot in the head and in the chest until he was dead. And i feel a bit conflicted about that.
