Eeek! I've just experienced my first brush with credit card fraud! I'm a little shaky now, which I guess is kind of silly because I called Mastercard and everything is going to be fine, but still. Eek. :( I was checking my credit card statement this evening and saw a $250 USD purchase at 'teamfanshop.com', which is some kind of sports apparel/collectibles store. Dunno if the site itself is a front or if the frauder is just buying stuff from them, but thinking it may be the former based on what Mastercard said.

I called and told the Mastercard representative that I had a charge from 'some kind of sports store' and before I could say the name of the store she said it for me. Heh. So obviously it's going around right now... (okay, or possibly she was just looking at my recent puchases and got the name from there. Now I'm not sure... but when I commented that it sounds like this is going around right now she said yes, so I'm guessing there have been other frauds from that site. And there are a bunch of other things pending ("there's something about horse saddles, does that sound right?" "No, no it definitely does not!"). And looking at my remaining credit versus my limit and how much I owe, I realized that at least $2000 more was pending - and she said yeah, there's something coming through for $2500. EEK. I just said "yeah, whatever that is? NOT RIGHT." :) Well, not in those exact words, but close!

Anyway, it's all good, she's doing a dispute for the transactions and all should be well. Still freaked me out a bit... I've never had this happen before. :( Creepy crazy world out there... (this Rahm icon nicely sums up my feelings towards the frauder. ^_^ Is frauder even a word...?)

In cheerier news - Mom and I went out last night and she bought me an early birthday present of ice skates. :) I went skating again at Robson Square tonight after work. Only for about half an hour because it's a small and crowded rink and frankly I was getting kinda bored and tired of going slowly and trying not to slam into people, but still fun. Will try to go at least once a week - good exercise, and a good way to shake off yet another boring day sitting at a desk pulling out staples! :)
