Melancholic, a.k.a. Haruhi and Others
As usual, I have already seen the latest haruhi episode.
(Note: There is only one Haruhi series and Haruhi person acknowledged solely as Haruhi. Ouran Host CLub is Ouran and Fujioka Haruhi is simpy the other Haruhi or Maaya Sakamoto or even Ouran.)
Episode 13 is still Episode 5, BTW. So, it's still Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi.
Ah, haruhi's soliloquy here... Everyone's probably gone through the same thoughts and made their peace with that. Haruhi has not and tilts at the windmills, thereby only making her depressed when it appears to her that her efforts are in vain. [I haven't made my peace with that essential realization either, but I do not posses her enviable determination. Hence I only make myself more depressed when I remember this truth. Yes, I coope with mundanity by forgetting it. What?]
Well, the real reason I'm feeling a bit wistful is the--yes, yes, I cannot deny it, I am a romantic heart--the romance angle.
Haruhi is the titular character and GOD; but it is Kyon who is the almighty narrator, henceforth, Kyon will be the overall commonality in shipping romance.
1. Kyon-Haruhi
I've been scouring the released novel chapters and the anime for signs and clues. Well, it's pretty obvious to us [except to herself and Kyon], Haruhi is interested in Kyon. He denies any lingering fondness for her after the initial attraction. But, we know better, don't we?! Ah, the end of vol 1! Ah, episode 8, 9, 12, and the ~sob, sob~ soon-to-be-last-episode 14! (by Haruhi ordering though). I squeal inwardly whenever I read/see these two interacting in a possibly romantic way. Seriously. But the main competition is...
2. Kyon-Yuki
Yuki's the goddess of the SOS-Dan. Their savior from the torments visited upon them by Haruhi. I feel yuki is the main competition, probably because she has received the most focus in the novels. She is more fully fleshed out than the other two girls [i'm not counting Itsuki there because he's barely received any attention]. Kyon is dense, I know, but he really doesn't suspect that Yuki may have developed feelings for him [what may? She has developed strong feelings for him.]
3. Kyon-Mikuru
Poor Mikuru. The anime has not really explored your character, in terms of growth, I mean. Not appearances, though she does get a lesser amount of focus chapters than the other two I think [again, not counting Itsuki, who's had almost none.] Kyon likes seeing her [new designation: Kyon's crush] and she does like him but I don't get the twinge that says they might end up. her words in that episode where ***** shows up for one.
4. Kyon-Itsuki
I actually don't get the feeling that Itsuki has the hots for Kyon. he considers Kyon important, yes. Respects his opinion with regards to Haruhi, yes. Likes to tease/fluster him, yes. But not yaoi. Maybe because there has been a distinct lack of Itsuki chapters, hmm? The mole thing was creepy though, I grant you that.
So the melancholy is there because Kyon-Haruhi may not end up happily for me. Kyon keeps saying something along the lines of "the terrible year of knowing Suzumiya Haruhi" and stuff like that. Yuki is ...so awesome. but Haruhi's god! I like them both but haruhi is my favorite girl because she is the linchpin of events. WHAT happened 3 years ago?!!
